Missing just one crib screw doesn’t sound like a big deal — until you’re halfway through setting up the nursery and everything comes to a stop. I’ve heard this story countless times from parents and grandparents who were so close to finishing, only to realize one small piece of hardware brought the whole project to a standstill.

What surprises most people is that crib hardware isn’t interchangeable the way it looks. Two screws can appear identical and still differ enough in length, threading, or load tolerance to affect how securely a crib goes together. That’s why guessing or swapping in a random screw often leads to frustration — or worse, a crib that doesn’t feel quite right once assembled.
