One visit to the aisle in your local discount store can be enough to make an expectant mother's head spin. There is just so much new stuff and so many brands to choose from. How can parents make sense of it all and not make the mistake of wasting money on gadgets they never use?
Baby Gear for a Baby Nursery Room![]() Baby Gates
Does Graco have better products than Fisher Price? Is Eddie Bauer gear just for baby camping gear or does Eddie Bauer make stuff intended for everyday use? Should we only buy organic or is it OK to buy used baby gear and save a little money without having problems later on? Experts weigh in on issues of chemical exposure and sharing opinions that are beyond (most) moms' comprehension. But when it comes to the reliability, durability and getting the skinny on whether the product is junk or useless as can be; mom's baby gear reviews are what you need. Consumer Reports is a good starting point, but I have found that opinions shared by real moms on forums where babies and their care is the topic of conversation are worth their weight in gold! CHECKLISTS It's very confusing to decide which brand is best and gives the most value for each dollar spent and we nail down who has the best stuff for sale, then we have to address safety concerns PLUS work our way through checklists. What kind of equipment do you really need for a newborn baby? For instance, in a recent survey moms said that wipe warmers were not only useless but a big waste of money. The shocking thing here is that practically every new mom I know has a wipe warmer on her baby shower registry! Go figure! New or even used equipment is too expensive to go filling your buggy to the brim with every modern nursery gadget we can find. It's true that no responsible parent would dream of socking baby in the car without a car seat or letting our babies ramble through the house without baby gates. The key is to talk to other parents, read consumer reports and reviews online or borrow an item from a friend and try the gear on for size before buying it.
There's no way around it, research is the best way to determine how much or what kind of nursery equipment or gear that you truly need for your new baby.
