Baby clothes make excellent shower gifts but it's impossible to get a size that will last very long. Babies rarely wear out their clothes. They may get a few stains but beyond normal wear from washing, personalized baby clothing doesn't get much wear and tear
This is due to the fact that babies grow fast and probably don't move around enough to hurt the fabric. Growth spurts will be what keeps you hopping when it comes to keeping them in outfits at this stage.
As shower gifts, new outfits are always appreciated but it's really hard to find an article of baby clothing that will stand out and make the other moms at the shower oooh and ahhhh as we might like.
So of course were always looking for that one of a kind article of clothing that will be used, appreciated and remembered. Designer Christening outfits and personalized items that you make yourself would certainly fall into this category. Inexpensive knitted baby hats and booties are so much more special and likely to be treasured if they are homemade.
If you want to give a unique, personalized heirloom piece to use as a christening or baptismal gown, go for it! If you happen to be from Ireland, there are lovely Irish Christening outfits.
This is an example of how special baby clothing that can be kept and passed forward to future generations. If that's your intention, I wouldn't give cotton or poly knit Christening clothes. Look for nothing but the finest fabrics in dresses or gowns for girls and Christening rompers or suits for boys in a fabric with a high thread count.
If you REALLY want your gift to be memorable, get a personalized label with your name embroidered on it to sew into the neckline of the gown or into one of the seams. Include a special acid-free box and tissue paper so that the christening gown can be stored safely using the same methods as museums. Consider writing or typing a personal note to serve as provenance so that the origin and history of your unique baby shower gift will never be in question. Special articles of baby clothing make great items to include in a baby's special memory box!
Trendy designer baby clothes make unique gifts and everybody loves modern baby stuff! The bright colors and patterns are so cool for a stroll around the block or an outing to the mall where baby won't be tempted to get the expensive designer baby clothing too dirty! You know those designer logos and signatures are not cheap, so save the luxury logo items for special occasions. There are many designers that offer clothing options for plus size clothes as well as for tiny preemie outfits.
Playtime is another story. Always have some clothing on hand that your little one can get really PLAY in. Get some used baby stuff or a few outfits that are cheap. Get a few outfits that they can stain, scuff and even tear a seam without regret! Cheap baby clothing can be cute as can be, but the fabric may be less colorfast or durable than a more expensive baby item.
Tiny baby outfits are just cute. They are so sweet and I love the colors and motifs that they appliqué on the center of the shortall bibs. Some of the cutest things I see appliquéd on baby play clothes are all kinds of baby animals! There might be:
Baby penguins
Baby panda bears
Baby lions, tigers or bears
If you know that a baby has a particular nursery theme why not give baby clothes that give a nod to the baby's room theme? Baby pandas, penguins or even baby Tweety Bird can be found on baby clothes so make it your business to find out what kind of nursery decor is in place and go from there! Mom will be flattered that you approved of her style of nursery decorating!
Nightclothes are not as showy but are just as necessary as baby clothes for day wear. Baby sleepers, gowns and sleep sacks will be used in large numbers especially if your friend's baby tends to spit up. Baby sleepwear or pajamas should be soft, non-binding with the seams finished so that they would not scratch or irritate baby sensitive skin. I prefer baby clothes in organic cotton fabrics personally.
The styles of baby clothes come and go throughout the years but the basics remain the same. A safe comfortable covering to keep baby warm is all that's absolutely necessary. But you have to admit that variety is what makes dressing baby so much fun. Please make plans to visit this website again soon to see the latest styles in newborn outfits.
