An old decorating trick is to shop for vintage advertisements, magazine pages, antique publications or books to use them as inexpensive art in wall displays. For instance:
- Flower seed advertisements would look lovely framed for a sun room or informal sitting room
- Plates from a book filled with Audubon's water color bird drawings would look stunning in the den
- Check the rubbish bin behind your local movie theater for one sheets (modern movie posters) for the latest Sci-fi or animated children's Disney movie for the collectible vintage movie poster of the future.
- Old fashion photographs from movie magazines picturing Glamorous celebrities and movie stars of the past would be excellent near a lady's dressing table in the boudoir or on the wall of her powder room
- Never damage an antique book or old magazine that was otherwise in good shape because a page could be framed and hung on the wall.
- Pick up damaged books from garage sales (or the garbage can) that might have an old black and white etching or botanical water color that you might be able to salvage. Old textbooks are a wonderful place to find old photographs or elegant pen and ink drawings worthy of inclusion in a wall disply.
