Baby Butterfly Decor

Pretty pink butterfly nursery decor in a shared room
This picture of baby butterfly decor is the inspiration for my baby girl’s nursery. I love its graceful combination of soft colors, delicate butterflies and barely-there wall art. The room feels feminine and magical without looking overly sweet or crowded.
Subtle Butterfly Nursery Inspiration
My favorite feature is the arrangement of three-dimensional butterflies above the bed. Their wings project slightly from the wall, creating soft shadows that make them appear to be fluttering across the room.
I will not have enough space for a large bed in my daughter’s nursery, so I plan to have a chaise lounge chair reupholstered instead. The chaise should provide a comfortable place for feeding, cuddling and reading while giving the room some of the elegance seen in my inspiration picture.
I plan to arrange the butterflies above the chaise in a similar sweeping pattern. I especially like the way the display moves upward across the wall instead of forming a rigid row. There are many creative arrangements for nursery walls, furniture and accessories.
Soft Butterfly Bedding for a Baby Girl
The butterfly bedding in the inspiration room is soft and simple, which is exactly the look I want. Its restrained colors allow the wall decorations to stand out while maintaining the peaceful atmosphere that I would like for my baby girl’s room.

These butterfly nurseries show how different the same theme can look when it is interpreted with watercolor murals, lavender and chocolate brown, pink and green, vintage furniture or restrained three-dimensional wall art. Choose a room below to see its complete decorating story.
Rather than filling the crib with competing prints, I plan to choose a fitted sheet and tailored crib skirt in colors drawn from the butterflies and mural. This understated approach could work with many of the palettes featured in these
baby nursery color schemes.

butterfly nursery theme ideas includes bedding, wall treatments, mobiles and other decorations that can be adapted for rooms of different sizes.
A Delicate Butterfly and Bird Wall Mural
If you look closely above the bed, you can see a shadowy mural painted over the striped wall. Slender tree branches, small birds and a few butterflies are woven gently into the background.
The mural is subtle enough that it does not compete with the three-dimensional butterflies. Instead, the pale design gives the wall depth and makes the decorative butterflies seem as though they are emerging from an enchanted woodland scene.
That kind of quiet artistry adds visual interest without overwhelming a small room. It is a lovely example of how imaginative
baby girl nursery themes can feel sophisticated as well as playful.
Butterfly Curtains and Coordinated Fabrics
I would keep the window treatments equally refined, using softly tailored panels that repeat one or two colors from the bedding. A solid fabric with a delicate embroidered border would complement the mural more successfully than a large, busy butterfly print.
These
butterfly nursery curtain ideas offer inspiration for coordinating window panels, sheers and decorative tiebacks without making butterflies appear on every surface.
A handmade textile could introduce another personal element. The appliqué pieces in this
butterfly crib quilt pattern could be recolored to coordinate with the nursery and displayed as decorative wall art when the quilt is not being used.
Planning My Baby Girl’s Butterfly Nursery
The finished room will combine a reupholstered chaise lounge, softly coordinated fabrics, a restrained butterfly display and a delicate mural. I want each feature to contribute to the theme while leaving enough breathing room for the nursery to remain peaceful.
