Giving something soft and warm as a gift to loved ones with a new baby is one of my favorite things about the upcoming holiday season. It’s an opportunity for me to show the people in my life, that I care for so much that it's my fondest wish that they are surrounded by love and warmth..always.

Christmas - y Red Baby Blankets

Not that I enjoy braving inclement weather and the parking nightmares; although I do enjoy walking through the stores and looking at the Christmas decorations and window displays - it’s the feeling that comes from giving what I believe to be something they will cherish as I do them.

Finding the perfect, unique baby gift can be a bit of a challenge since the decision as to whether to buy clothing, a toy or something that will be longer lasting must be made. When buying something for a baby shower in spring or summer, a pretty outfit may entice me. But when buying a gift during the cold winter months; the pull of pretty red baby blankets and homemade crib quilts is quite difficult for me to resist.

Soft yarns that have been knitted or crocheted in pretty patterns or the bright fabrics of homemade baby quilts with tiny stitches defining the patchwork blocks are like magnets that draw me. There are so many styles to pick from that who can resist taking the plunge and spending a tiny bit extra on something one-of-a-kind that will be enjoyed for several years rather than just a month or two.

Unique Baby Gear Ideas shares general safety information based on guidance from U.S. safety agencies and child-safety experts, who advise families not to use drop-side cribs. This guidance applies regardless of a crib’s age or condition.

Federal safety standards prohibit the manufacture and sale of drop-side cribs. While enforcement focuses on commercial activity, safety agencies strongly advise against using drop-side cribs in any setting due to the risks they pose.

If you own a drop-side crib, safety agencies recommend removing it from use permanently and following local disposal or recycling guidelines so it cannot be reused.
