Vintage Floral Print and Plaid Nursery Curtains

I made my vintage nursery curtains to match the vintage baby bedding set that I found on this page! As you can see I got really close to getting a perfect pattern and color match to the fabric used in the tumbling blocks crib quilt.

When I saw the floral fabric on the baby's quilt, I knew that it was exactly what I wanted for the window treatments. But I liked the way that the person that made the crib set mixed and matched the patterns of the fabics and wanted to do the same thing.

I did a search for vintage nursery curtains and found a picture of some valances that liked and copied so the ideas are not all original but this is what I did.

I bought floral print fabric for the part of the nursery curtains that would be the most visible and then bought enough plaid fabric to line them with.

As an accent I a layer of scrim underneath the valance and unraveled the weave of about 2 inches of the fabric.

The center of the gathered valances is folded back to expose the edge of the scrim layer and some of the plaid lining. I hit a consignment store and bought an old jacket just for its gorgeous vintage buttons to secure the flap.

I adore the way they look in my baby girl's vintage shabby chic nursery!
