Vintage Baseball Nursery

by Gary

I would like to convert my spare bedroom into a vintage baseball nursery for my soon to be born baby boy. I found some really great baby boy nursery ideas on your website but I keep going back to a baseball theme nursery because my husband and I have such great memories of Fenway Park.

This baseball theme lamp would be an easy DIY project. It's a great idea for displaying some of the baseballs collected over the years.

I also like the idea that he won't outgrow this theme. My plan is to put my husband's baseball baseball card collection (that his dad actually started) on display and make my own baseball nursery bedding using baby fabric with old fashioned baseball logos on it.

A baseball loving friend of ours went all out decorating her toddler son's bedroom by using Louisville slugger baseball bats for his bedposts and making her own table lamps by drilling holes through the center of beat up old baseballs (so that she could run the electrical wire through them), mounting them on wooden bases and adding the lamp hardware and shade. I think that they will be PERFECT for a vintage baseball nursery!

So, I have a few ideas already mapped out but my problem is how to decorate the walls beyond the framed baseball card collection and some catcher's mitts and stuff in shadowbox frames.

I would love to paint a Fenway Park wall mural on one wall because I love that stadium but I'm not very artistic. Does anybody have any ideas for this accent wall? Should I skip it or find a mural artist to paint an old fashioned looking
scene of Fenway?

From the webmaster:

Whether or not a wall size mural would be called for depends on the size of your room. In an average size bedroom, a collection of baseball cards and shadowbox frames might be enough. But if you have a very large nursery with high ceilings, go for it and don't forget to stop back by and share pictures of the artwork when you're done!

I especially like the idea of showcasing these wonderful family keepsakes and collectibles and the sports stories that your husband will be sharing with your little boy and can't wait to see your baseball decorating ideas and share them on Unique Baby Gear and Nursery Ideas!
