Lavender, Green and Chocolate Brown Butterfly Nursery
Lavender, Mint Green and Chocolate Brown Butterfly Nest Baby Nursery
After much consideration, I realized that a lavender, green and chocolate brown butterfly nursery color scheme would be perfect for my daughter's room.
My ideas were inspired by my dream of a space filled with magical fairies and colorful butterflies.
Butterfly Nursery Theme
The soft, pastel color scheme of lavender, mint green and dark brown is very relaxing and a perfect background for the delicate butterflies that are featured in various areas of my baby girl's nursery.

Paint Colors for a Baby Girl Butterfly Nursery
We chose to paint three of the nursery walls in a pale shade of lavender that has silver or gray neutral undertones. The accent wall is painted in mint green that also has a hint of silvery-gray. All wooden moldings, including the wide crown molding, were painted in white with a hint of gray to tie it into both the lavender and green walls.

Lavender, Green and Chocolate Brown Butterfly Nursery Wall Decorations
The wall hanging over the baby's crib features all of the elements of the room including the magical fairies, butterflies of my dream surrounded by spring flowers. The wall hanging itself is framed by 3-D butterfly decorations to the side whose wings are made from a lightweight material trimmed in purple fabric that is a few shades darker than the lavender wall paint color. There is a similar miniature quilt hanging on the wall to the side of the windows that has bright spring flower appliques made from fabrics that would complement the baby's bedding.
The windows in the nursery face south and provide an amazing amount of natural sunlight for most of the day. I wouldn't change this for anything but I knew that at naptime that I would want to darken the room. For this reason, I chose chocolate brown curtain panels for their room darkening capabilities as well as how lovely they look with the mint green color walls. The dark brown fabric does a super job of blocking the sun when I close the drapes and the earth tone balances the otherwise pastel color scheme of the nursery.
FLOOR COVERINGWe chose a light brown wall to wall carpet through a process of elimination. The right color carpet was surprisingly difficult to find since we had to discard one sample after another for being too pink. Thinking ahead, the neutral color will give us flexibility for makeovers in the future. For color, we will just buy an inexpensive area rug like the sweet, lavender and white butterfly shape rug that is currently in place.
What is my favorite decorative element in our baby's nursery? The butterfly mobile that is hanging from the light fixture in the center of the nursery has butterflies in every color that we used in the room. The mobile's light and airy design perhaps does more to create the atmosphere that I wanted for this room than any other item.
