Fun Halloween Baby Shower Ideas

For a hostess looking for a unique fall shower theme, a Halloween baby shower can be so much fun that the expectant mom might forget that her ankles are swollen! If you are not the hostess that gets excited over traditional baby motifs and colors, fall harvest themes will take you far away from pastel pink and blue. Pass the decorations covered in baby rattles and tiny shoes to a friend that likes to stick with tradition.
There are several different approaches that you can take in decorating a Halloween baby shower. Halloween party decorations in black, orange and sickly green are plentiful this time of year if witches and monsters are welcome at your shower. If not, there are ways to bypass the spooky side of the season with decorations that focus on decorations of the time of fall harvest.
SEASONAL BABY SHOWER INVITATIONS
Of course you will want a special Halloween baby shower poem printed on your invitations. You can find card stock in many colors appropriate for Halloween but I found bright orange worked best for me. I printed my poem in a creepy, old-fashioned script using gothic letters that really stood out on the pumpkin orange background on my card. Here are some Halloween baby shower wording ideas.

Your poem might read something like this:

We’re having a party for mummy To welcome the baby in her tummy

Don’t be surprised If when you arrive

That one of the monsters Think you look yummy!

You are welcome to adapt the wording of this little poem on my Halloween baby shower invitations to your occasion so that your special cards will be more personalized.

HALLOWEEN BABY SHOWER THEMES and DECORATIONS
I would consider wrapping a stuffed animal, like a teddy bear, in tea stained gauzed bandages. The brown tinge to the gauze will make it look aged, but not nasty. You probably don’t want really dirty or gross Halloween baby shower decorations. For table decorations, you can make little tombstone shaped place markers or if you want to avoid graveyard motifs, miniature pumpkins with the other mummies names printed on them will fit with your color scheme.

HALLOWEEN BABY SHOWER FOOD
For a really cool fall theme baby shower cake, bake your cake in two mixing bowls. Each will be half of your pumpkin cake. After the cake is done, you can put the two halves together and cover them with orange icing. Use your spatula to spread the icing to resemble the spines and indentions of a pumpkin. I used a leaf shape stencil to draw (with a sharp toothpick) leaf shapes on sheets of fruit roll ups in different colors. The purple and yellow sheets make a lovely color contrast in combination with the bright orange frosting on the cake. The green sheets made lovely vines and leaves for the top of my pumpkin. I used this cake on top of my antique cake pedestal as my centerpiece. It was so cute and every bit of it was edible.

You could use artificial silk leaves and greenery, but I liked the idea that the entire centerpiece could be eaten!
