Elegant Black and White French Country Baby Nursery
My favorite thing about our nursery decorated in French country nursery decor is the sunny summer colors. In fact, my love of bright green and yellow are the inspiration for my design. This color scheme was a natural choice since my baby was scheduled to arrive in early summer when the leaves are green and nearly every day is filled with lots of sunshine.
The plans for the baby's room included bringing the warmth of those endless, summer days indoors.
French Country Nursery Décor can be very elegant yet colorful. See more examples in our photo gallery.
To get started, I painted the walls a cute, lime green color and added accent pictures with varying shades of yellow in the pictures. I love decorating with toile, so black and white toile was a natural choice to use as my French country baby bedding set.

The curtains are made from a fabric that has a black and white French toile print that is not an exact match.
The collection of crib bedding that I used did not offer window treatments and I had to go shopping for some that would blend with the fabric that was used to make the baby's crib set. I worried about this at first, but after the fact I saw that they worked beautifully as French Country nursery decor is not about perfect matches and complete sets but an eclectic style of decorating that gives you a lot of leeway in mixing and matching fabrics and decorations.
After experimenting with many different styles in drapery hardware, I found that the simple black iron curtain rods that you see in the pictures were the ultimate connecting factor between the black and white French toile baby bedding fabrics and the crib.
The lime green nursery walls and the modern styling of our baby boy's crib are the decorative touches that give the French toile fabrics an interesting and modern edge.
It all came together very nicely and I think my son's
French Country nursery decor looks gorgeous.
