Vintage Ocean Theme Nursery Ideas for a Baby Beach Boy
by Olivia
(Birmingham UK)
I'm decorating my baby boy's room in an English vintage ocean theme. We've bought my little "baby beach boy" a vintage bucket seat that I will use as a high chair. I recently got a new sewing machine and bought some beautiful upholstery fabric with blue and white stripes that I will use to make replacement cushions for the old, stained ones that are currently attached.
The stripes on the high chair cushions will duplicate the accent wall that you see as you come into the nursery.

We hung blue and white wallpaper with wide stripes on the accent wall. I worried that the pattern would change the design into a
nautical theme which was not the look that I was after. To be certain, I hung the sample on the wall and "lived with it" for a few days to see if it worked for me and it did.
We refinished our first child's white nursery furniture in antique white to give it a faded beach house appearance. This project took a lot of work and hours of sanding but it was a nice set with lots of room for storing and organizing all of the baby's necessities and clothes. The collection includes a dresser, changing table, crib and armoire which would have been expensive and extravagant to replace just to get a color change.
To accessorize I bought a very British blue and white bunting and lots of beach themed decorations including seashells, cuddly fish toys shaped like fish and wooden toys to place around our
baby boy's nursery that he will enjoy when he is a little older.
Decorating the Walls of Our Vintage Ocean Nursery
We painted the remaining three walls of the nursery a neutral white color with very subtle blue undertones and bought some anchor shaped coat hooks that are located near the dressing area for easy access to the outfit planned for the day. Over then changing table is a large canvas I had made from a photo of my husband and I at the beach.
We're expecting the baby to arrive in just a few weeks and are most appreciative to
