If you have a copy of the owner's crib assembly instructions manual that you can scan, send or perhaps direct me to a free download of the diagrams online, it would be a huge help.

Babi Italia Elena Crib Parts and Instructions Manual

Because your model is a specific older convertible crib (Babi Italia Elena #010111402), I suggest the following path:

Check the crib’s label: Confirm model number, date, lot or serial number.

Compare your crib's model to the ones listed on the recall list: If your crib has a drop-side mechanism, check that it is not one of the recalled models or if it is, follow the recall recommendations. (The recall mentions that the firm no longer operates, but there may still be repair kits or replacement parts via secondary market.)

Note: Safety / recall history

Importantly: The
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
lists a recall of drop-side cribs manufactured by LaJobi (the parent/distributor of Babi Italia) in 2010. The recall states:

"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs … the firm is no longer in operation."
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

Because of that, if your crib uses a drop-side or non-fixed-side design, you should check whether your exact model was part of that recall and whether parts or repair kits are still available / safe.

Given that situation, if parts are hard to find or the design is older/out of compliance, you might consider replacing the crib altogether with a current-model fixed-side crib that meets current safety standards. Saving a few bucks isn't worth putting a child at risk.

There is a generic "Babi Italia Crib Manual" PDF (not necessarily specific to the Elena model that you have) available online

If someone has a manual and shares it: Use the model number to locate the specific assembly instructions so you can verify all current hardware and parts.

Identify needed parts: If you find this particular crib was not recalled and if you only need hardware or a conversion kit, you can order from one of the parts suppliers like (Amazon ensuring compatibility.

Consider replacement vs repair: If hardware is missing/outdated or the design is older and possibly non-compliant, consider replacing the crib with a current model that meets up-to-date safety standards.

Hi, I’m Jan — the creator of Unique Baby Gear Ideas. I love helping expecting parents discover nursery décor inspiration and creative photo shoot ideas that make every stage of pregnancy feel beautiful.

Over the years, I’ve helped thousands of parents understand crib models, recognize missing hardware, and explore general considerations related to replacement parts. Most of the questions I see come from everyday situations like moving, storage, or inherited cribs rather than manufacturing defects.

The suggestions I share here come from years of hands-on experience styling nurseries, reviewing maternity gowns, and learning what makes each photo session shine.

All articles and images on Unique Baby Gear Ideas are personally reviewed and edited by Jan Bay. Modern creative tools may assist with design or drafting, but every final page reflects my own voice, experience, and editorial judgment.
