Gerry Wood Products Crib Instructions Manual and Parts

by Lisa R
(Middleton, Wisconsin, US)

I am looking for a copy of a Gerry Wood Products crib instructions manual and replacement parts for a model 9071 baby crib.

I understand that Evenflo bought out the company that manufactured Gerry Wood baby cribs. However, when I contacted Evenflo's customer service department to request a copy of the Gerry Wood Products crib instructions manual and the baby crib parts that I want to order to assemble our wooden crib, they were unable to provide any information.

Go here to browse the inventory of parts, etc. available for Gerry Wood baby cribs.

My hope is that another Gerry Wood Products Crib Model 9071 owner might be willing to email me a copy of their crib assembly manual or any spare parts that they no longer need.

If you have either that you might be willing to share please let me know using the form below that has been provided by Unique Baby Gear Ideas.

Gerry Wood Hufco (Huffy) Customer Support
by: Anonymous

Has anyone tried calling (800) 582-9359?
Some owners have reported speaking to Gerry Wood Hufco (Huffy) Customer Support department so if you call you may be able to get some assistance.

I don't see my full size crib listed in the list of Gerry cribs in the recall. Could it be that only the porta-cribs had problems?

Even if the model isn't listed, parents should be aware that all drop side cribs are believed to be dangerous and are illegal to sell according to the CPSC website.

Hufco and Evenflo Crib Recall
by: Anonymous

There was a Hufco-Delaware Company and Evenflo Company Inc. recall of 300,000+ portable wooden baby cribs reported by Furniture Today back in 2003.

The recall stated that the hardware used for the faulty cribs' assembly did not fit well and that the mattress support platform and mattress could possibly fall to the floor presenting a risk of injury to young children in the crib.

The portable wooden cribs in the recall are smaller than traditional, full-sized baby cribs.

Most of the portable wooden baby cribs were sold under the Gerry(r) brand name with some having been sold under the Evenflo(r) brand name. The wooden cribs in the recall may have one of the following model numbers that can be located on a label attached to the mattress platform underneath the crib mattress (long list posted below).

These portable wooden cribs were sold from January 1991 through December 2002 for about $99 each.

The article indicated that owners were advised to stop using the portable wood cribs immediately, and to call (800) 582-9359 (no longer in service) to request a free kit that gave additional support to the cribs' mattress platform preventing collapse.

Personally, I would not advise using an older crib as there could be issues that may not have been reported. Just my opinion.

Gerry Wood and Huffy

Someone said that the Gerry Wood crib company was once a division of Huffy. Would it be worth a try to contact Huffy for advice as to where you might find some instructions and parts?

Gerry Wood Products Baby Cribs
by: Anonymous

Is your crib a portable or full-size crib? In a search for information on a Gerry Wood baby crib model 9021, one poster indicated that the portable cribs were recalled due to dangers of collapse. There may be full sized cribs that have been included in the recall as well so you really should do your research before using the 9071 (or any) model.

There was once a page on the Evenflo website where owners could request information but my experience today was that there are no owners' manuals for cribs available to order or download at all. I only saw instruction manuals for various items of baby gear which makes me wonder if they offer support for any cribs at all much less for defunct companies.

Good luck to you.
