Candy Cane Crib Part Replacements

by Bonnie
(Colorado)

I am looking for candy cane crib part replacements. I lost the candycane piece in a move and without it, I can't put the baby's crib together. The candy cane crib rod I need goes to a crib model 1519 86 85 with a manufacture date of 1984.

I was planning on converting the crib to a fixed side crib but I can't move forward with any of my plans until I buy the missing piece that holds the crib rail up.

This baby bed is special to us since our daughter and our grand babies have used this crib in the past and we are now needing it for another child.

Go Here to See if the candycane crib rod is available.

I hope that someone can please help me locate one of these rods since I have looked everywhere with no luck and the bed is needed as soon as possible. The baby has been sleeping on the floor but now that he is becoming mobile that arrangement is not working.

Thanks to Unique Baby Gear Ideas for any help or suggestions in finding one of these parts.

Candy Cane Crib Rods
by: Anonymous

There are sellers that offer candy cane crib rods but I'm not sure if they will fit your particular crib.

You posted the model number but could you please share the brand? For instance, is this a Simmons baby crib?

The rod you need is called a "candy cane" rod because the top is rounded, yes, like the candy.

The problem that you may encounter in your search is that after the style with the round top was discontinued due to a safety issue it was redesigned with a square top which eliminated the problem which was space between the rounded part of the candy cane rod and the wooden headboard or footboard of the crib.

The space presented an opportunity for the baby's fingers or clothes to be stuck in the space.

The new candy cane crib rods fit flush to the wood eliminating the space and safety issue associated with the previous assembly.

I have read the suggestion that owners of cribs with the old style candycane rods replace them with the new design.
