I found a Boyds Bear baby bedding set several years ago and decided that, if I ever had a baby boy, I wanted that exact crib set for his nursery. When my pregnancy was confirmed, I was disappointed to discover that the collection had been discontinued.
I assumed I could visit the Boyds Bears website and place an order, but there were no crib bedding sets available. The entire nursery collection had apparently been retired.
My remaining options were to have a custom set made or buy a used one. I could not find soft blue and yellow Boyds Bear fabric, so making the bedding myself was not practical. Instead, I began looking for another teddy bear crib set with a similar look and color palette.
After several months of searching, I found a set that I liked nearly as much as the original
Boyds Bear baby bedding. It also coordinated beautifully with my teddy bear collection.
The bedding included fitted crib sheets decorated with suns, moons and stars, along with several matching nursery accessories. The collection featured a lamp with a wooden bear sitting on a moon, a musical crib mobile with four miniature teddy bears and a sleepy bear nursery rug.
Handmade wall hangings and an authentic Boyds Bears Baby Mookins figure completed the room. The little bear was dressed as a cow and seated on a moon, giving the nursery a playful twist on the “cow jumped over the moon” rhyme.
The fitted crib sheet and matching quilt were my favorite parts of the set. Parents creating a similar room may also find inspiration in these
bear baby quilt patterns, including appliqué, patchwork and teddy bear crib quilt ideas.
The only piece I never found was a matching pair of curtain panels. Solid baby blue or pale yellow curtains could work, but fabric with a light blue background and tiny stars might coordinate even better with the moon-and-stars bedding.
I hope the parents visiting
