Crib Instructions Manual for a Jenny Lind Baby Crib
by: Anonymous

Unfortunately, original crib assembly instructions for cribs from the 1980s are rarely still available, and most manufacturers no longer keep records that far back.

To get help from another parent you will need to provide more information on the brand of Jenny Lind you are working with.

Here’s what you can do next, step by step:

First, check for any identifying marks.
Carefully look over the crib rails, headboard, footboard, mattress support frame, and even the hardware itself. Sometimes there are faint stamps, inked numbers, or metal tags underneath the mattress frame or on the inside of the posts that can help narrow down the maker.

Know that "Jenny Lind" is a style, not a brand.
Many companies made Jenny Lind–style cribs in the 1970s and 1980s. Because of that, there usually isn’t one single "official" instruction manual. Assembly methods can vary slightly between manufacturers even though the cribs look similar.

Use visual assembly references instead of a manual.
Your best option is to compare your crib to clear photos or diagrams of fully assembled Jenny Lind cribs. Focus on:

How the spindle rails attach to the headboard and footboard

How the mattress support hangs or bolts in

Where corner bolts, hooks, or metal brackets are placed

Reputable crib-parts help sites often show these details clearly enough to guide reassembly even without a manual.

Do not substitute hardware if anything is missing.
Jenny Lind cribs rely on specific bolt lengths, thread types, and brackets for stability. Using "close enough" hardware from a hardware store can make the crib unsafe.

Consider safety before using it.
Cribs made in 1980 typically do not meet current safety standards (especially slat spacing and drop-side rules, if applicable). If you plan to use it for a baby—not just as décor—it’s important to verify whether it can be made safe, or whether it’s better suited as a keepsake or decorative piece.

If you’d like more help:
You can share clear photos of:

The full crib

Each side rail

The mattress support

All hardware pieces

With those, it’s often possible to guide you through assembly visually or determine whether the crib can be safely put back together at all.

1980 Jenny Lind baby crib assembly instructions manual
by: Anonymous

Has anyone found 1980 Jenny Lind baby crib instructions that they might share?

I cannot figure out how to put this crib together after 40 years.

A copy of the owner's manual and/or some pictures of the bed being assembled would help a lot.

Can you provide pictures of the bumper springs for the drop side? I am assembling one and do not have the bumper springs and I’m trying to buy them from a local hardware store.
