I am trying to locate a replacement trigger latch for a Baby’s Dream Generation Crib. The plastic portion of the original latch has broken, so the crib rail can no longer be secured and operated as it was designed.

I have already searched online for replacement crib parts, but most of the parts I have found are general hardware items such as bolts, screws, washers and barrel nuts. I have not been able to find the actual trigger-latch assembly or the molded plastic piece that fits this particular crib.

I would prefer to locate an original Baby’s Dream replacement part or another replacement specifically confirmed for the Generation Crib. I do not want to substitute a part simply because it looks similar, since the latch dimensions, mounting holes and locking action may be different.

Has anyone successfully found a trigger latch for this crib, contacted Baby’s Dream about older replacement parts or located a discontinued-parts supplier that may still have one? Information about a compatible part number, an original parts diagram or a source for used manufacturer hardware would also be helpful.

No worries... crib will not be used while the latch is broken or while the rail cannot be locked securely. Any replacement would need to be verified for this exact crib before installation.

This is not the type of crib part that I would replace with a general latch or another part chosen only because it looks similar. The trigger latch is part of the mechanism that holds the movable crib rail in its secured position.

Baby’s Dream Generation cribs have been included in previous U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls. One recall involved the folding gate and hinges on Generation cribs, while another Baby’s Dream recall addressed trigger latches that might not align or lock securely into the strike plates. You can review the official Baby’s Dream Generation Crib recall information and the later Baby’s Dream trigger-latch recall notice before deciding what to do with the crib.


Because the plastic latch has already broken, I would not use the crib, attempt to glue or rebuild the latch, or install a secondhand latch from another crib. Parts from different Baby’s Dream models or production years may look alike without having the same dimensions, mounting points or locking action.

Check the identification label on the crib for the complete model name, manufacture date, model number and cut or production number. This information may help determine whether the crib is included in either recall. I have not located a currently supported source that can confirm a replacement plastic trigger latch as safe and compatible with this exact Generation Crib. Even if an old or used latch becomes available through a resale site, its age, condition and compatibility may be impossible to verify.
