Tale of a Seaside Nursery - Baby's Swimming in La La Land

by Karen
(Wingdale, NY)

The color scheme for our tropical fish, seaside nursery was influenced by pictures taken on family trips to the ocean on the weekends. Our goal was to recreate those memories as closely as possible and the only way to do this was to do as much of the artwork ourselves as possible.

Our paintings include various shades of
  • Baby blue
  • Seafoam green
  • Nautical navy blue
  • Bright sunny yellow
  • Lime green
  • Sunset pink with touches of red

THE FLOOR

The floor of the seaside nursery is painted in an ocean theme with painted tropical fish swimming through the water.

THE WALLS

The walls of the baby's room are painted blue with lots of fluffy clouds in loose tropical fish shapes floating in stretches of blue sky over scenes that we copied from pictures we took last summer at the beach.

THE CEILING

We blended the sky portion of the wall mural onto the nursery ceiling where we painted birds and a bright yellow sun with a smiley face that is smiling down over the baby's crib.

The tropical fish, seaside nursery theme goes from very light and bright near the ceiling gradually deepening to shades of darker blue and then finally blending into the painted ocean scenes on the floor which starts two feet from the bottom of the wall before flattening out when it reaches floor level.
