My Baby Girl's Red and White Gingham and Red Toile Nursery Bedding and Decor

My Baby Girl's Red and White Gingham and Red Toile Nursery Bedding and Decor

Here are the pictures of my red toile nursery, baby bedding and decorations! I wanted a red nursery for my baby girl because her room is on the north side of our house and has very little natural light. Red is such a warm, cozy color and this space needed a little bit of added warmth.

FINDING RED TOILE BABY BEDDING

I shopped for a red toile nursery bedding set online and the ones that I liked were too expensive plus the red toile fabric looked burgundy or maroon and I had visions of bedding made with cheerful red toile fabric with a baby print. I decided at this point that I would be making my own baby bedding set which was no big deal because I have a sewing machine and sew all the time.

RED TOILE FABRIC

The next step was to get some toile fabric swatches and make a decision. I considered red and yellow toile but I chose the red and white pattern because the nursery were painted a light brown or tan and when I put the red and yellow swatch up the yellow clashed with the paint color.

So, that decision was made for me....I would be decorating a white and red toile nursery. If I had wanted to give the walls a makeover, my baby girl would probably be sleeping in a French country nursery but I had to work with what I had. Plus, I found enough yards of the toile I wanted for sale CHEAP in an Ebay auction.

RED TOILE NURSERY WINDOW VALANCES

I was afraid that I wouldn't have enough to make curtains after making the bumper pad, the dust ruffle and the crib quilt even though I used red gingham fabric for the crib skirt and the baby quilt's border rather than piecing with solid red and red toile fabric like I would have loved to do.

And I was correct that there was not enough red and white toile fabric left to make curtain panels, but I had enough left over to make a tab top valance.

RED TOILE NURSERY DECORATIONS

After my homemade red toile baby bedding was in the baby bed along with the red crib sheet that I bought, something was missing... I needed something else in the nursery to balance things out. Then, I remembered this old red gingham lamp shade that I had in the closet! It's not red toile, but this lamp will work until I see my way clear to recovering it or I find something I like better.

I hope that you like my nursery decorating ideas and my baby girl's nursery pictures!

Love it!

My baby's nursery/wardrobe theme colors are black, white and red. This is the first red toile nursery I've seen and think you did a great job! If I'm energetic enough I'll make bedding too.I love toile decorated nurseries because the effect is elegant, yet modern enough. Great work, love it!
