In addition to the free baby cardigan sweater knitting pattern tutorial for a baby boy (or girl) on this page, there is also a pattern for a boat neck, pullover sweater and a knit diaper cover in a nautical theme.
The pullover sweater features buttons on the shoulders (that would be perfect in white or shiny brass) and a sailboat stitched in cross stitch embroidery as you can see in the photograph.
The soaker or diaper cover has knitted ribbing around the leg opening and elastic around the waist.
Go here to see this amazing collection of simple, easy to make sweaters, hats, mittens and blankets that the mom-to-be can quickly knit during her pregnancy. Imagine baby's closet and dresser filled with layers of neatly folded handmade garments and accessories made with so much love from the softest of yarns.
Size 6 months to one (1) year
Yarn 5 (5) one ounce balls of Kashmir Fleece Yarn
Notions
1/2 yard of elastic
13 buttons
Needles Number 3 American Standard Knitting Needles Gauge 8 stitches per 1 inch
This baby cardigan set has a nautical look and would work up beautifully using royal blue yarn, white or brass buttons with a few pops of bright red added via the cross stitch embroidery pattern.
This is one of my favorite patterns offered on Unique Baby Gear Ideas. It is such a cute set that will be perfect for a nautical theme photo shoot or just to wear on special occasions.
