Barrel Nut (aka cross dowel nut) for a Pali crib

We are expecting twins and are in need of a barrel nut (aka cross dowel nuts) for a Pali crib. The crib is a second-hand one handed down to us by a good friend of ours.

The only problem we face is that we are missing one piece of hardware that is essential to assembling the crib. Since the crib is Italian made, we cannot find this piece anywhere.

The metal part we are missing is called a Barrel Nut or Cross Dowel Nut. These barrel nuts in certain sizes can be bought in hardware stores in our area but as luck would have it, we cannot buy the size we need at any of the local hardware stores, not at Home Depot, via Amazon, etc.

Please someone, anyone, let me know if you by chance have any extra Pali crib hardware that you might share or if you have had this same problem in the past!
