Baby Shoes Growth Chart Craft Idea

Baby Shoes Growth Chart framed in a shadowbox frame.
I got this baby shoe growth chart craft idea while reading a magazine in the dentist office this morning. Making wall art or a growth chart out of a series of shoes in graduating sizes will not only put your precious mementos on display; you will also get to empty a few of those drawers and/or storage bins.
Shoe Sizes, Style and Color
In this example, I chose shoes between Size 0 crib shoes and Size 3 toddler shoes.

the perfect shadowbox picture frame for your crafts project.
The selection includes one of each pair of shoes that represented my baby girl's growth. They are not all the same color but in the same family as far as style and color are concerned. I'm considering doing a similar crafts project using play shoes if I can scrap up enough of them that are still in one piece.
Choosing Shoes
The key is to choose shoes that increase in size gradually for your display but you might also consider shoes from occasions or that hold memories such as:
- your baby's first pair of crib shoes
- a pair of homemade shoes made by a relative
- the shoes baby wore for the christening or baptism ceremony
- shoes that matched the outfit worn in baby's first portrait sitting
- baby's 1st Christmas shoes
- the shoes that fit on baby's 1st birthday
You might consider including information about each one as well as the age of the child when he or she wore the shoes.
Instructions
Mounting one of each pair of shoes, either the left or the right, on a background in a color that complements the wall color of your child's room. I chose a black background because black will go with many colors and really made my little girl's shoes look pretty.
Framing Your Crafts Project
You will need a shadowbox frame for your growth chart that will maintain the three dimensional (3D) appearance of the shoes.
This baby shoes growth chart would make a great baby shower gift for a mom who has a large collection of clothes and shoes that she doesn't know what to do with. It came as an answer to a prayer for me since I was struggling with overflowing drawers and storage bins filled with precious mementos that I couldn't bear to throw away or sell at a yard sale.
