I grew up with three older brothers and no sisters so when I learned that I was expecting my first child, I immediately had my nursery theme in mind - for a girl! And then, after I learned I was having a boy I had to put my dream girl nursery on hold for awhile.

I finally got to see my idea come to fruition when I was pregnant with my darling Ava!

I drew up the design for Ava's pink and black baby boutique nursery theme within an hour of discovering her gender.

I was determined to create a "Parisian Dress Boutique" dream space for me and my little bundle! My plans included a settee, a nursery chandelier, a painting of the view of a street in Paris and a vintage dress form.

I arranged cute clothes racks on the wall where I could put my baby girl's dresses, shoes and hats on display.

Girl Nursery Pictures

I wanted the space to have lots of girly-girly-girly-ness everywhere!

My ideas for the baby's nursery theme were unlike any I had ever seen, so I knew it wouldn't be an easy task. Luckily, I have a crazy-awesome mom who is an excellent seamstress as well as an artist. After my design was completed, Mom and I went to work shopping for fabrics and furniture. I live in Phoenix, and my mom lives in Missouri so there were tons of emails flying back and forth.

We were on a budget, so two things were certain:

1. We would be using the crib that my first child had in his nursery.
2. Craigslist was to about to become our new best friend.

I found the settee on Craigslist. Mom recovered it and it looks fabulous! My husband found someone to make the semi-circular dress racks for the nursery wall. The hat racks are upside-down sconces which, when painted black, are perfect for the baby's room.

We still have a little work to do. For example, I'm going to put some of Ava's newborn photos up -but I must say, my baby girl's room is amazing and I LOVE spending time there!

I hope that visitors to Unique Baby Gear Ideas enjoy my her nursery pictures and will share their own boutique nursery pictures if they use any of my tips.

An Eiffel Tower Design

I think that the wall behind Ava's crib would be the perfect place for an Eiffel Tower decal.

Thinking back to the last time I was in Paris
by: Anonymous

It is too late in my pregnancy for me to travel comfortably but this space with the vintage dress form and artwork made me think back to the last time I visited Paris with fond memories.

French Trompe l'oeil Painting

I thought, at first, that the scene through the window was real when I first saw the painting. It is just so real and the colors are just perfect for Ava's rooms. I also love the custom-made clothes racks.
