I need a copy of the assembly instruction manual for a Simmons Crib Model 1404 88 200. I am aware that the crib is over 20 years old but the baby is due in 4 weeks and need to get bed put together.

If anyone knows where I can find a copy of the owner's manual let me know!

FWIW, I did call the customer service department line at the company and the representative said since they no longer make this crib model they can't help me.

So, I'm looking for a download or a kind person that will post or email me a copy.

Simmons Crib Assembly Instructions for Older Model Cribs
by: Anonymous

I completely understand how stressful this feels, especially with your baby arriving so soon.

Because the Simmons crib model 1404 88 200 is more than 20 years old, original manufacturer manuals are no longer distributed, and unfortunately Simmons no longer maintains records for discontinued models. That’s frustrating, but there are still a few good options worth trying.

First, you may want to check the crib instructions page linked above. Over the years, many parents have shared scanned manuals, partial instructions, or assembly diagrams for older Simmons cribs there. Even if the exact model number isn’t listed, closely related Simmons models from the same era often use very similar assembly steps.

Second, if you do actually find a copy of the instructions, I strongly recommend confirming that you have all of the original hardware before attempting assembly. Cribs from that time period were not standardized the way newer ones are, and using substitute bolts or screws can affect safety. If any hardware is missing, it’s safer to replace the crib rather than improvise.

Third — and this part is important — cribs manufactured over 20 years ago may not meet current safety standards, even if they were considered to be well-made at the time. This includes issues like slat spacing, mattress support design, and drop-side mechanisms (which are no longer considered safe to use). If you’re able, I encourage you to have the crib checked carefully against current CPSC guidelines before using it for your baby.

Someone in the community may still have a copy of the manual and perhaps offer some advice. If so, hopefully they’ll reach out — parents helping parents is what makes this site special. In the meantime, please don’t feel discouraged. There are safe, affordable crib options available that can be set up quickly if needed, and your baby’s safety always comes first.

Wishing you a smooth final stretch of pregnancy and a calm setup ahead — you’re doing the right thing by asking questions and double-checking everything. 💕
