Are Cloth Diapers Cheaper than Disposables

Are cloth diapers cheaper than disposables like everyone says? I'm going to be totally honest and admit that personally, I think cloth diapers are a little bit of a hassle because of all the washing and handling. But, when I consider all the obvious environmental benefits there's no way I would use anything else.

However, I would really love to see the figures to see how much cheaper they are and how much money I would save by diapering my baby with cloth rather than store brand disposables.

From the Webmaster:

One chart (found through the link I included above updated in 2008 so figures might be more or less) broke the expenses down to show that each disposable diaper change was .14 more expensive than using cloth diapers. So, are cloth diapers cheaper than disposables? According to this research, they are! And those figures did not take into consideration winning free cloth diaper samples as so many moms do by entering baby giveaway contests. Winning free cloth diapers or buying used ones would increase the price gap even further.
