When we started to decorate our baby girl's nursery there were three main design ideas we had in mind; cheap, pretty and purple. We achieved our goal by using hand me downs, things around the house we already had and handmade items.

Among the few items that we bought for our
lilac meadows nursery that we decorated with
chevron and yellow accents was the paint. We used Glidden High Endurance paint in the shade Purple Discernment for the wall behind the baby's crib and the other three walls were painted using Glidden brand paint in a shade called "Luscious Lilac".
We bought the decals for her crib wall at Walmart and putting them together was quite a task. We had to put them together piece by piece to make the branches then add every leaf and butterfly separately. It took some time trying to figure out the best placement for all of the pieces of the wall decals and we also added mirrored purple flowers with pearl centers that were separate from the stencil.
The nursery curtains and bedding from Carousel Designs were given to us as gifts. They feature a chevron pattern that includes shades of solid lilac, slate silk and solid antique white.
The tie backs for the curtains were handmade using ribbon, a yellow silk flower and a rhinestone that was attached to the center using a hot glue gun.
The dresser and nightstand are from Baby Cache and also gifts. The baby crib and rocking chair are hand me downs. My stepson used the crib four years ago and my husband just refinished it. My mother-in-law used to rock my husband in the nursery rocking chair.
The wall decorations above her dresser were made as decorations for the baby shower and then included in the design of her room. The mantel on the wall with the curtains was a piece that we already had at home. We arranged some hand made dolls from my childhood to create an antique feel.
That is pretty much all we did I hope that visitors to
Unique Baby Gear and Nursery Ideas enjoy the outcome as much as we do.
