Fabric Baby Carriers

by Susan Deyo
(Dresden, Ontario, Canada)

Fabric baby carriers, like Mei Tei carriers are so much more lightweight and breathable than those made of leather or vinyl and that's very important to me. My baby is heavy enough without the carrier adding even more weight to the load. Our summers are hot, humid and it's difficult enough for an adult to stay cool much less a newborn without being wrapped in nylon or vinyl.

I look for a product made from comfortable lightweight material, that is easily washable. I think it is important that a baby carrier be lightweight, practical and easy to pack and take when you're on the go.

Thank goodness so many manufacturers and independent vendors seem to get this and are providing a lovely selection of fabric baby carriers with all of these qualities.
