Metal Mattress Support Bar for a Jenny Lind Crib

Where can I find a metal mattress support bar for a crib. I have a 1980 Jenny Lind baby crib and the metal support bar is missing but I have all of the rest of the crib parts and would like to proceed with the assembly as soon as possible.

Can anyone here on Unique Baby Gear Ideas help me out and tell me where to order a replacement Metal Mattress Support Bar for a Jenny Lind Crib?

Important safety/compatibility reminders
by: Anonymous

If you’re looking for a metal mattress-support bar or replacement hardware for a circa 1980 Jenny Lind baby crib, here are some recommendations + important safety/compatibility reminders.

Because your crib is from around 1980, you’ll want to check a few things:

You may or may not know that the design of mattress support systems has changed significantly in the years since your Jenny Lind crib was manufactured. Many older cribs used metal spring-rod supports or metal bars; newer ones use mesh or flat platforms. Be sure to measure the existing dimensions, mounting points, and hardware in your crib before ordering.

On the product page for a newer Jenny Lind crib that I found, the description states: "Metal mattress support."
Crate & Barrel. That could be a good sign—but your 1980 version may have a completely different configuration.

A parts-resource site dedicated to Jenny Lind cribs specifically has a listing for "Crib Mattress Support Hook for Jenny Lind Cribs" among its crib parts inventory. The company is listed as "Parts Ready Online". That might be a good place to begin your search.

Most importantly, you should be aware that older cribs may not meet current safety standards. If the mattress support is degraded or has missing/hardware in poor condition, you’ll want to verify structural integrity, stability, and that the crib still meets current safe sleep guidelines before using it.

On a parts-resource page for Jenny Lind cribs, it’s noted that for some older models the manufacturer may no longer offer replacement parts.

So you may have to rely on aftermarket/adapted parts. Proceed with care and caution.

Steps to choose and install the right support bar
should you happen to find one and choose to use it.

Remove the old mattress support and measure: width inside side rails, depth (front to back), height from floor, location & size of mounting slots or brackets.

Check to see how it’s mounted: Are there hooks, bolts, rods, or brackets? Are the side rails drilled for hardware?

Compare with replacement part specs: Ensure width, mounting points, height adjustments match.

Consider adapting if necessary: If none of the off-the-shelf ones match perfectly, you could use a universal hardware kit or custom metal bar (have a local metal fabricator cut/finish one).

Inspect and replace any worn hardware: Bolts, washers, brackets may be corroded or missing—use a full hardware kit if needed.

Test stability once installed: With crib fully assembled and mattress in place, push on sides and center to ensure no flexing, loosening or unsafe gaps appear. This is not an area where "close" will suffice. Never take chances when it comes to your child's safety.
