The decorating inspiration for my baby boy's nursery comes from a picture I saw at a baby boutique. The foundation for my shabby chic nursery ideas for my baby boy nursery is the framed piece of art that is prominent in all of my nursery pictures that features a stork and a baby in a baby carriage. I was going to do a nautical theme but I could not tear my eyes away from this beautiful picture.

The fabric of the crib set had a completely different feel to it than others that I had considered; it was light, airy and very soft. The sweet set just said "baby" to me so I completely changed my theme to "shabby chic" as I imagined it. It's hard to see in this picture but the crib sheets are a soft blue, creme, and a light tan. They are different designs that reminded me of a shabby chic look.

We found a perfect soft blue paint and only painted two of the five walls. We choose a beautiful dark brown wood for the crib and changing table.

I have accented with rusted looking picture frames and a toy box to complete the shabby chic design, among other things. I did not want a animal or object theme but to give the nursery character with the shabby chic accents we choose to complete it.

I believe that we captured the shabby look for the our baby's nursery that we were going for and wanted to share our experience with all of our friends at Unique Baby Gear Ideas. When we brought our little one home I felt the room was gentle and soothing and just perfect for our beautiful son.
