Chemicals in Disposable Diapers

The thought of the chemicals in disposable diapers makes cloth diapers
a better choice. I just couldn't let those nasty chemicals in disposables touch my baby. I also think that soft cloth feels so much better against the skin. My choice was made primarily as part of my devotion to a chemical free environment for my child but I also believe that going with clot diapers saves me money and that disposables are wasteful!

I have also found that my baby boy has fewer leaks and rashes on his bottom and legs with cloth. I love that I am not just throwing diapers in the trash to lie in a landfill for decades. I think that cloth diapers like Nifty Nappys are adorable too. Avoiding the chemicals in disposable diapers and looking great to boot is a great bonus!

I love the flying high fabric, and the white diaper with the owls on it that I saw on Nifty Nappy.

Harmful chemicals in baby products
by: Kate

Hi, great article! I did not know that disposable diapers could be harmful. I have been reading a bit about harmful materials in baby products particularly baby clothes that use dyes which can cause skin irritations and rashes because babies have ultra sensitive skin. This is why I only buy organic baby clothing for my children.

Unique Baby Gear Ideas shares general safety information based on guidance from U.S. safety agencies and child-safety experts, who advise families not to use drop-side cribs. This guidance applies regardless of a crib’s age or condition.

Federal safety standards prohibit the manufacture and sale of drop-side cribs. While enforcement focuses on commercial activity, safety agencies strongly advise against using drop-side cribs in any setting due to the risks they pose.

If you own a drop-side crib, safety agencies recommend removing it from use permanently and following local disposal or recycling guidelines so it cannot be reused.
