Lion and Butterfly Wall Painting

I got the idea for my King of the Pond nursery theme from the exciting kids' character building storybooks from the "Another Sommer-Time Stories". The paintings that you see on the walls were all inspired by illustrations in the books that teach positive character traits.

As you can see from my baby boy nursery pictures and ideas that I got from the children's books, there is a large cast of characters found in nature including butterflies, tadpoles, jungle animals and more. Those were just some of the characters that I was able to fit below the blue sky painting technique used on the upper portion of the nursery walls.

I started decorating my King of the Pond nursery theme from the ground up starting with the baby bed that I found at a garage sale. I found the baby's dresser and changing table on Craigslist. When I got them home the first order of business was to paint all three items in a neutral color scheme of bright yellow and green. It was enough work that we know ahead of time what colors will be used for our second child.

I began working on painting the bookcase first, then the blue and white upper part of the ceiling and yellow on the lower portion. Last, I tackled painting the detailed storybook characters that took longer to complete than all the other jobs combined. Once I stepped back and took a look, I realized in focusing on the frog pond theme nursery that I had completely overlooked the interior of the closet. Picking up my paint brushes after they had been cleaned took discipline on my part, but I knew that I would not be truly satisfied until the final work was done in the closet and now our perfect nursery design is complete and we are waiting for the arrival of our baby boy.
