THE BEST BABY CAR SEATS
BRITAX BOULEVARD CAR SEATS

After reading lots of reports, I came to the conclusion that the Britax Boulevard was the best baby car seat for me. There were several features that had me convinced. The attention to detail and impressive safety features like the HUGS system, the side impact cushions, the 5 point harness and LATCH system all added up to a big thumbs up for this safety seat.
Some of the safety gear can be found on cheap car seats as well as this rather expensive seat, but the Britax made all the straps and gadgets seem so substantial and secure. But the feature that really motivated me to pinch pennies and skip over inexpensive, no frills car seats was the fact that the baby would be able to use it up to the time that she weighed a whopping sixty five pounds. That’s a lot longer than most car seats.

WASHING or REPLACING THE BRITAX BOULEVARD SEAT COVERS
At the time I was considering whether to buy one of the stylish Britax baby car seats or to settle for a cheaper seat, my oldest was riding in one of the Cosco seats for older children. This was a hand me down seat and while we never had put it to the test in an accident; I had never been really pleased with it for several reasons. One of the main reasons I was disappointed with it was strictly cosmetic. When we were given the seat, it was in good shape except the seat covers were nasty. We went ahead and got professional installation thinking that I could wash them at first and get replacement seat covers later. I then discovered that I had no choice but to wash them because I couldn’t find replacement seat covers for my model. I learned that it was extremely difficult to remove the covers and to get them back on. Another big check in the positive remark or “pro” column for the Britax Boulevard; there are some really cute custom replacement seat covers should the upholstery become outdated or dirty.

PROS and CONS of the BRITAX BOULEVARD BABY CAR SEATS

POSITIVES :

  • The quality and number of safety features
  • How stable it feels once installed (no wiggles or wobbles)
  • Soft, washable and easily removed upholstery.
  • The HUGS system, padding and side impact wings
  • The baby can use it longer than any other convertible seat that I made comparisons with
  • The height of the side impact wings and the safety harness are adjustable without having to completely uninstall the Britax Boulevard.
  • It’s FAA approved which is essential if you plan to fly with your baby

NEGATIVES

  • The Boulevard Barrington which we got was more expensive than most other baby car seats, but I would urge you to consider the resale value of a used Britax Boulevard car seat in the price. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much value they retain.
  • Like all quality items that get high ratings; it’s pretty heavy especially with a baby inside. So if you plan to board an airplane get ready to heave ho or to get a strong man to help you get your baby to her seat
