Funky Cow Baby Nursery Theme

Here's the story of how my funky cow baby nursery theme that you see in the picture was decorated. When I found out that I was pregnant, I immediately started thinking of a theme for my baby's room. I wanted a theme that would go with a boy or a girl. One day while driving past a farm, an idea popped into my head and I decided I the perfect gender neutral nursery theme would be based on cows.

The colors that I chose for our farm animals nursery decor were lime green, black and white. I told my husband how I wanted to decorate the room and he looked at me as if I had completely lost it. Green, black and white didn't sound very tasteful to him. But once I have an idea in my head, I'll stick to it and he could not get me to change my mind.

Then I told him that I wanted cow spots on the wall and once again he thought that I had completely lost it. Not wanting to go against a pregnant women and her moods, he agreed.

We painted the walls lime green with a cow print border around the top of the walls. The room is very small so I had to be wise with my space and choice of furniture. I chose white furniture to go with the green, black and white cow baby nursery theme. I chose a sleigh cot as it always seems to give a room character. I had a chest of drawers made which also serves as the changing mat, which saved me a lot of space. I put in a small table and two bean bag chairs with a small lamp on the table to give the effect of a lounge area.

To decorate the nursery walls, I hung boxes, with a stuffed toy cow in each box. Then I found out that I was having a girl and wanted to give the room a girly look. With that information I decided that the room was a little bit too green. I need to bring in a fourth colour to break it a little bit. I went through the exercise of hanging four different pairs of curtains until finally settling on the bright pink curtains that you see in my baby girl's cow baby nursery theme pictures. And then I was satisfied with the colours of the room.

I made a cow print crib duvet and matching tieback out of the same black and white cow print fabric for the hot pink curtains. I put two stuffed flowers and a stuffed worm on the cot just to add some color and fun to the cow nursery theme. Finally my room was complete and ready for little Ava to move in.

WOW! Can I say it again? WOW! What a spectacular layout of lime green and pink and and black and white. You did a super job of balancing the colors with your cow baby items. And the fact that you made your own cow theme nursery bedding is very impressive.

I have a few questions. Where did you find the cow print wallpaper border and did you paint the flower wall mural yourself or did you use decals?
