Hostesses with a budget might like to use free printable baby shower invitations as a way to save money. There’s nothing wrong with homemade shower invitations so long as you are crafty enough so that they are inexpensive in cost but don’t actually look cheap. Only the closest of friends would overlook the fact that the announcement that they see when they open the envelope is shall we say somewhat less than stylish and hip in design.
Don’t make your own invitations because they are cheap; make your own invitations because you feel that you have some creative ideas that you are dying to show off with this project. If it turns out that your homemade baby shower invitations are less expensive than themed invitations bought at the stationery store, that’s cool but not nearly as cool as having your guests ask who designed the dute invitations. Or even better if they ask you how much you might charge to design cards for their next cookout or birthday party.

BASIC SUPPLY LIST

  • Card stock in three colors
  • Themed stamps, templates of baby motifs and colored markers
  • Double sided stick tape or glue stick
  • Color ink pads (professionals say to buy your colored ink the same place that you buy your blank cardstock so that the colors will match well
  • Sponges – those little triangle shaped makeup sponges work well
  • Craft Scissors

Once you make a few cards, you will develop your own style and preferences in color combinations as well as supplies, but for now we will assume that you are a beginner and stick to the basics in card making.

For this basic homemade baby shower invitation you will cut your background sheet in a size that will fit your envelope, a piece to serve as the matt or frame of your picture and then a smaller piece to serve as a decorate medallion where you will stamp your motif.
