AMERICUS A PATRIOTIC NAME
We decided to give our baby girl the middle name, Americus, a patriotic name that is a rare name usually meant for a boy that has a Latin origin.
The meaning of the name is "royalty" and I believed that to be royal is gender neutral and therefore perfectly appropriate for a princess rather than a prince.
However, the reason we chose a patriotic name for our daughter has nothing to do with being royal. We picked it because she is due close to Independence Day or the 4th of July and she will be welcomed into a family who has been proud to serve to preserve the freedoms of the citizens of the United States of America for generations.
