Generation Next Crib Instructions Manual
by: Anonymous

There is a Baby's Dream Generation Next Crib Instructions Manual and Parts List that might help you here on Unique Baby Gear Ideas but you should know that this model appears to be discontinued and the company had previously issued a safety recall for certain versions of the "Generation" (and "Generation Next") cribs.

One site explicitly states: "The Baby’s Dream crib company no longer stocks or manufactures parts for this crib.

The instruction sheet states "Do not substitute parts. Ask the dealer or write to Baby’s Dream Furniture for replacement parts and instructional literature if needed."

This implies that using non-OEM parts may go against the manufacturer’s recommendations.

You can see what's available on Amazon

Because of the recall and the discontinued status, finding exact OEM replacement parts (for the original model/finish/hardware) will likely be difficult and may involve scavenging used parts, second-hand sellers, or universal hardware which is probably inadvisable.

That said, there may be resources for crib parts available:

Here’s a quick rundown of possible options:

I am not advising that you use a discontinued, possibly un-safe crib.

If you learn the crib was not part of a safety recall and is safe to use, identify exactly what part you need: Is it a latch, plastic trigger, side rail, mattress support, finish front panel, or hardware?

Check the crib for model numbers, labels, cut numbers (especially relevant given the recall). For example: the recall mentions "Generation full-size oak cribs with cut numbers 194-1897" were subject to recall according to the
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

If it’s a safety or structural part (like mattress support, hinge, drop gate latch) and since Baby’s Dream no longer manufactures parts, you may need to:

Contact the manufacturer (if still reachable) to ask for leftover/new-old-stock parts.

Search second-hand marketplaces (eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, local nursery furniture resellers) for used parts.

Consider having a skilled woodworker or hardware specialist adapt a generic part (but be very cautious about safety, compatibility, and whether substituting parts violates manufacturer warnings).

If the crib is convertible to a bed or full size bed and you’re missing conversion rails or hardware, then one of the universal conversion kits might suffice — but you must check dimensions, hardware alignment, safety certifications.

Given the age/discontinued status of the model, also evaluate whether using the crib still meets current safety standards and whether replacement parts will ensure safe operation (especially since older drop-gate cribs were recalled).

Keep all documentation of the original model, hardware you install, and ensure you tighten/inspect every bolt and component. If a part cannot be replaced or repaired properly, consider retiring the crib or converting to a bed/other format (if safe).

Finally: Make sure any parts you use are compatible, safe, and installed correctly to avoid injury risks. The instruction manual states: "DO NOT use the crib if any parts are missing or broken."
