WHITE BABY BEDDING EYELET, LACE, MATELASSE and NURSERY DESIGN
As any person with childcare experience can attest, white baby bedding is not for the faint of heart. Not that we would ignore the inevitable splatters and messes on crib bedding, sheets, quilts or comforters just because they were camouflaged or invisible; but shall we say that every little drop would not be a reason to completely strip the baby bed and start over from scratch.
With a set of white crib bedding, those tiny spots that might otherwise be put off until a regularly scheduled laundry day if there was a darker print fabric in place get bumped to the front of the line. Keeping a set of white bedding looking its best may be more of a challenge than most busy mothers want or need. There are far too many necessities involved with tending to a newborn infant to add high maintenance bedding and accessories to the list.
ANGEL BABY BEDDING, NURSERY THEMES AND WHITE BABY BEDDING
There is a case to be made for a snow white nursery design. If you want a heavenly or angelic atmosphere in your baby’s room, you can’t go wrong with a set of white crib bedding. Light as air, lace curtains at the windows and a baby crib canopy and bedding will give the impression that your little angel’s address is none other than Cloud 9 once you have your beautiful white baby bedding decorating the crib. Wall hangings and door wreaths made of fluffy, white feathers would be excellent accompaniments that stay in keeping with your decorating ideas for white nursery decor.
WASHABLE SILKS and SATINS
White nursery bedding sets once could only be found in delicate silks or satins. I suppose the reasoning behind this was that cost or durability meant nothing to an impractical mother who wanted white baby beddings. Fabric selections have come a long way and I’m happy to say that white bedding sets for babies come in washable silks as well as polyester that so closely resemble silk that it’s difficult to tell the difference without a side to side inspection.
WHITE EYELET CRIB BEDDING and ACCESSORIES
For a more durable and less formal nursery design than one achieved with white lace and feathers, skip the silk and satin fabrics in favor of 100% percent organic cotton in white eyelet. White eyelet is a wonderfully versatile fabric for a baby girl’s white nursery. It’s easy to spot bleach the stains and keep it looking fresh as a daisy. I knew one frugal mother that enjoyed her white baby bedding until the fabric looked too dingy after many stain treatments and trips through the wash. When the time came, she used a tea staining technique to give the baby’s white eyelet crib bedding new life as an ecru baby bedding set and gave the nursery a makeover into a Victorian theme room.
GENDER NEUTRAL NURSERIES and WHITE BABY BEDDING
There’s another reason why decorators continue to ignore the short life span of white fabrics in the nursery; they are completely unisex. When traditional colors just won’t work or in baby rooms where lighting is an issue, there are times when there is no better route to take than to decorate in white. You have the option of cooling the nursery down with blue accents, warming it up with red, yellow or brown or you could make the nursery monochromatic with black decorative accessories. There’s no denying the decorating opportunities that white sheets, curtains and bedding offer; if you have the time and resources to keep it looking good.
