ORANGE, BLACK and BEIGE COLOR SCHEME for a BABY'S NURSERY
I don't know about most of you, but I was sick of looking at pastel nurseries that are all cookie-cutter from Babies-R-Us or Target. Not that those are bad, I just wanted something different. The result was a unique nursery color scheme for baby with a blend of oranges, browns, beiges and black painted nursery furniture for the perfect background.
I started by using a nursery wall painting technique consisting of very pale shades of orange on the top and bottom of the room with a black line for a faux chair-rail and crown molding.
Then I used my baby crib bumper pads, pillows, and blankets as accents featuring various gender neutral shades of orange.
All of the nursery furniture is a deep, glossy black, except for the glider which I had covered in a muted orange stripe fabric. This was accented with a side table from Bombay with an orange inlay design on top and a hanging orange organizer from Ikea.
The decorative accessories that I chose were a vintage orange lamp from a thrift store that I repainted with black trim and orange baskets and flowers. I hand painted my own artwork to be framed for the walls with black frames.
I received a beautiful orange baby quilt as a keepsake that was inspired from the baby shower invitations sent out for my showers. This wonderful shower gift has become the focal point of the room.
The baby quilt when draped on the crib rails pulls all the colors of the room together with its bright and colorful geometric design of multi-colored polka dots. The dots are printed in varying sizes ranging from very small to large.
All-in-all the baby's room turned out beautifully and I can't wait to spend time in there with our little one!
