We didn't want anything that was "over the top" for the baseball nursery theme for our baby boy's room. The idea of the space being crammed from top to bottom with matching crib bedding, decorations and curtains made from fabrics covered in sports graphics held no appeal for us.

With that thought in mind the first thing we did was to find some modern baby bedding with a contemporary print fabric with a color combination in brown, blue and creme with tan accents.

After we picked out the crib set, designing the rest of the baseball nursery theme baseball nursery theme was easy.

The decision was made to paint the nursery using horizontal stripes but we couldn't decide which colors were best. We just could not narrow it down to three paint colors, so we used six colors in our project with alternating colors in each stripe.

In light of all the different shades ranging from chocolate brown to aqua in the room and the blue and brown baby bedding, we decided to use black for the furniture color. We bought a black crib and gave a console table a makeover with black lacquer paint to use as a baby changing table. I got baskets to put on the shelves as storage receptacles for toys, books, diapers and boxes of baby wipes.

The reason for the baseball nursery theme is that my husband loves baseball. He had some really nice black and white, vintage baseball art prints of baseball gloves and mitts that we used to decorate the walls over the crib. On the opposite wall we hung some matching black wall shelves and made an arrangement of some of his old bats, gloves and baseballs.

I love your baby baseball nursery ideas and even if we were not going for this style of decor I would give your color scheme and wall painting technique a try.

I know that it has been a while since you painted your baby's room, but could you please share the paint colors that you used. There are so many shades of blue and brown and it would really save me some time if you would not mind listing the brand name and the color codes it would do a lot to help a busy mom and dad whose nursery is the first DIY home improvement project that they have ever tackled in their entire lives.

Another question that my husband especially wanted to know in regard to your baby baseball nursery ideas was where did you find the cool, black and white pictures over the crib. Were the vintage baseball mitt pictures photos that you took yourself that were from your personal collection that you had enlarged or is there an online art store where we can buy them as a set?
