M J's Zebra Print Safari Baby Nursery Design w Diamond Nursery Wall Painting Technique M J's Homemade Baby Blanket that was made with Lots of Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Most of All Love by her Momma! M J's Personalized Pillow and Crib Mobile M J's Changing Table and Safari Wall Art

As you can see from M J's safari nursery theme pictures, our baby girl's room has a blend of tropical and wild animal print fabrics including the nursery window treatments(made by Momma) and a table lamp with a zebra print shade.

The curtain panels have a yellow and white giraffe pattern (from fabric.com) with a border of brown and white zebra print fabric and I embellished and decorated the lamp and shade to complement them.

I painted the wall in a two tone painting technique using two shades of yellow paint and then added a quote over the baby's bed that says, "Guardian angel pure and bright guard me while I sleep tonight".

I used the lighter shade of yellow paint for the solid color wall behind the baby's changing table and hung three prints that I felt was in keeping with the rest of the jungle nursery theme that I had in mind for M J's nursery plus the zebra print reflected the tan and brown zebra fabric (that I bought from my local Joann) that I used on the border of her nursery curtains.

From the webmaster:

Thanks for allowing us to feature pictures of M J's safari nursery theme with us, Kate! I love the way that you blended the wild animal prints so beautifully! This is an excellent example how to decorate a baby girl nursery with just the right touch of jungle decor so that you have the look without being overrun with wild animals!

I would love to hear more about the nursery wall painting technique including any instructions for how to paint the diamond shapes on the wall or paint colors that you could provide for the moms who will (without a doubt!) want to duplicate your baby nursery ideas.

Beautiful
by: pridelandmama

I love the animal pictures they are very unique, but very cute. I also love the curtains. The different patterns on the curtains blend together to create a fantastic look. Comes together to make a beautiful nursery for a baby boy or girl.

Lucky you!
by: Anonymous

How lucky you are to have your husband there to help you with your baby's room. Mine is on active duty and we will be lucky if he's here for the birth.

In your opinion, would the diamonds be too hard for one person to do alone or would it be a "two-man" job?

One more question, where did you find the cute safari themed pictures over the changing table?

Diamond Wall Painting Technique Instructions
by: Kate

I noticed that you asked about the painted diamonds on the nursery wall.

My husband is an engineer and as engineers do, they meticulously craft things to perfection!

I'm not totally sure how he prepared the wall before painting but I do know that he measured the center of the wall and also measured how wide I wanted the diamonds to be.

He then used the measuring tape to measure each point on each diamond. He used thumb tacks for each diamond point and then strung string from one thumb tack to another and then we taped the wall using the string as a guide.
