I got a free baby memory book in a pretty gift basket put together by local merchants after every one of my babies was born. With my first baby girl, I made a note including the date and all the details surrounding every developmental milestone including pictures in most cases.
With the rest of my girls following closely behind, I had a lot less time to document their accomplishments. Gone were the days when I took pictures of every smile and could easily find time to preserve a lock of hair from every haircut although I did manage to catch all the "firsts".
Who would have ever dreamed that maintaining a scrapbook or journal to organize our memories takes so much time and money. Sadly, there have been more than a few times when both were in short supply in my house. All the more reason that I appreciate those free baby memory books that the local bookstore so thoughtfully sent to celebrate the birth of my daughters.
If you know me personally, you may have heard me fuss when we have moved about having to pack up all those boxes of books. I have threatened to have a yard sale and unload some of the less collectible volumes. But you can just bet that there are four little books that I will carry with me to the ends of the earth and those are the baby keepsake books that didn’t cost me a penny.
