Best Cow Hide Rugs for Your Home

Look what's in from the bunkhouse! Cow hide rugs! These throw rugs do a super job of adding softness, color and depth to a room decorating project! And you don't have to decorate your room like an old Texas ranchhouse to get some use out of that glorious Brazilian cow skin rug!

Back in the day, the time we saw a brown and white or tricolor cowhide rug of premium quality on the floor was if the homeowner was a HUGE fan of Bonanza! The Cartwright family had a wonderfully cozy home but it was a little on the rustic side even for a house full of bachelors!

The cow hide rugs were practically the only print that you saw in the decor unless you count the woven horse blankets and the occasional calico apron that the Chinese cook wore. And who knew what color they were anyway? Everything back then was pretty much black and white. Colored cow hide rugs were not seen on MY tv anyway!

Cow hide rugs are seen in modern decor in the gentleman's den right along with the cowgirl bedroom or the baby boy's vintage cowboy nursery theme. For a family room or den the Highland cow hide rugs can be centered in the room directly below the rustic wagon wheel or cow horn chandelier. You may have to make your own cow horn chandelier, so get ready to put your friends who know how to wire lighting fixtures on speed dial!

If the room is large in size, smaller pieces of cowhide can be placed in front of the sofa and armchairs and used as throw rugs to mark entryways. If the room has a vaulted ceiling, consider using a cowhide rug as a wallhanging and centering your cow horn chandelier at the highest point in the room!

Hanging animal skins whether real or imitation is a great way to decorate the walls in a lodge style or rustic home or room.

Decorating with cow hide rugs in a girl's bedroom decor is a wonderful start to a unique and feminine décor that's not too frilly but still can get the message across that it's a girl's room. A girl from a ranching family will be right at home with cow skulls, steer horns and cowhide but we will take some extra steps to soften the room up a bit. A pretty set of vintage cowboy print bedding and some pink bandana print pillows and accessories will be the best way to offset the cow theme rugs. You can even make a pretty bandana scarf window valance to match your throw pillows! Red or blue bandanas will work just as well, I just used pink as an example of how girly you could go and still use your cow hide rugs with good results. Just think how cool black and white print cow hide rugs would look when paired with hot pink accessories!

For a boy's room decorations to use with your cow skin rugs are a no-brainer! A cowboy boot chandelier and some old western cowboy pictures on the wall will tie that cowpoke's bedroom decor together in style! For a baby boy’s Old McDonald, farm theme or for a John Deere themed nursery a cow rug is just as appropriate as it gets! If you feel that your bedroom is just getting too theme – y feeling, this is a nice neutral floorcovering that stays in the same genre without overpowering the senses! I mean, it's all American to love John Deere, but how many tractor style accessories can you fit into one small space?

The price of a premium quality cowhide rug might be more expensive than you want to go in decorations for a baby's nursery theme. Don’t worry, you can have your cow print rug and for a very cheap price. Maybe you can find one on sale! The way to get the look of cow hide without the expense is to find a discount cow print rug in faux fur that has the look of a real cowhide. You can have your cow print rug that can be thrown in the wash when it gets dirty and your little cowpoke gets a nice soft faux fur rug to play on! If the thought of a discount cow print rug turns you off, real animal skin rugs are not that expensive and last for a long time!
