Best Stroller for Infant and Antsy Toddler! The Baby Trend Sit-‘n-Stand

I could go on raving about my Sit 'n Stand LX Stroller by Baby Trend until my fingers would not work. When my new baby was born, I also had an active two year old. I knew that if I was ever going to leave the house without major effort, I had to find a stroller that could handle both children.

I borrowed a friend's double stroller and it worked fine, but the toddler didn't think that sitting beside her sleeping newborn sister and having to be completely still and quiet so that she wouldn't cry was very much fun.

I spent the better part of traveling with the pair of them constantly taking the big girl in and out of the stroller because she gets bored and then she gets tired. When I read the specs on this stroller that would make her habit of wanting to alternate sitting or standing, I knew I needed to give the Sit and Stand baby stroller a whirl around the block.

I have been using my Sit n Stand baby stroller for a few months and have been very pleased but the best thing is that my toddler girl loves to be able to both sit and stand at will. Many times we let her walk along with us and then when she gets worn out , she hops onto the stroller all by herself and makes up her own mind whether she wants to sits or stand on it and we keep strolling right along. She also feels like a "big girl" because she is not riding inside on the infant seat where we have the newborn baby's Graco Snugride car seat located.

If you are wondering how much the Sit and Stand weighs, I can only say that the stroller is heavier than most standard strollers. This is a slight "con" but as it still folds small enough to fit well in the trunk of my compact car, I can't complain too much about that.

Another slight negative is that it is more difficult to maneuver than a traditional stroller because it is longer because of the platform in back. Considering that it accommodates two kids rather than one tiny infant, I am willing to give it a pass.

One safety feature that the Sit n Stand stroller has that wasn't highlighted on the online descriptions and specifications that I read is that there is a seat belt that secures the toddler on the bench seat. This comes in handy when I am in traffic or in stores where I don't want her to climb off. I rarely use the seatbelt so she doesn't get too tired of it. There is also a belt that prevents the toddler from falling backwards when standing up on the boogie board, but I haven't used it yet because I usually stroll slowly so that falling off while big sister is standing so that's not an issue.

Some of the consumer reviews criticized and gave mediocre ratings because the toddler seat did not have a back and becasue the toddler could not nap in the stroller. My answer to this would be that if your toddler isn't resisting standard double strollers or likes to sleep in the stroller, then the Sit and Stand stroller is not the best stroller for your kids. I would suggest buying a double tandem stroller. However, if you are like me and have a wiggling, active toddler who resists a regular stroller, then a Sit n Stand will ease your pain.

The small sun visor has been mentioned and yes it is small, but I can't see how they could have made it any bigger with the overall design. My main complaint is that the (highly touted) storage basket under the front seat is hard to access and for the most part unusable.

Overall, I have been very pleased to find a versatile, safe stroller that my active toddler enjoys. I can overlook the few negatives that others and myself have mentioned. The Sit n Stand baby stroller gives me an easy way to take the children for a stroll without my husband!
