Baby onesies have become important parts of the baby’s layette for reasons of comfort and convenience as well as the fact that they are trendy and stylish. I can speak from personal experience that there is often a need for one more unstained, plain white onesie no matter how many I have packed in the diaper bag.
Plus, those cute onesies are so much fun that I have found myself actually enjoying taking one off after a bib fails to prevent a mealtime disaster. My friends look forward to reading the new sayings and wording that mom and dad have come up with for the "custom onesie of the week" as they are now known among my friends.
I believe that my husband has gone crazy with making his own onesie sayings. He takes notes at work when he has ideas of cute stuff to print on his next order of custom, personalized onesies for our baby or to give as gifts to our friends who are pregnant. Oh yeah, he has even come up with wording for maternity tops for my sisters that were hilarious. He has even designed some matching father and child t-shirts, bibs and onesies that don't exactly match, but have a conversation with each other. Call it an improvement over the "I'm with stupid" t-shirts from a few years ago.
This proud dad has really gotten into the fun of creating unique poems, jokes and sayings to have printed on t-shirts for other dads and their toddler's and baby clothes. Companies who take specialty orders for personalized, embroidered infant t-shirts, baby onesies and body suits who have put the power of designs in the hands of the consumer have done a lot to bring grandparents and dads on board. Their activities may be bordering on the verge of obsession but but baby's got to have clothes, so I say let them have their fun.
So what if daddy uses the front of unique, customized onesies to stroke his own ego? By that I mean that I’ve seen more than one cute onesie recently that was printed with his or her daddy’s business logo or profession stamped across the top in bright colors and bold print. Infants are now able to declare that their dad’s farm tractor, truck or musical ability is better than anyone else’s before they have spoken their first word. How could an infant fail to grow up to follow in daddy’s footprints when they were raised wearing onesies personalized John Deere farming equipment or Fender guitars on the front?
Funny sayings and poems are not the only way parents have personalized onesies; images and graphics are very popular as well. Embroidered onesies that have been monogrammed with baby’s name, initials along with some pictures of baby animals, ducks or other classic motifs associated with the nursery are seen for more formal occasions where funny jokes might be considered inappropriate.
Cute baby onesies for baby boys and girls have now been adapted for use not only as excellent personalized baby shower gifts, but as part of the decorations. A hostess that I heard about had devised a way to make a unique teddy bear shaped centerpiece made with diapers and onesies to decorate the gift table. I suppose that we should have been anticipating the appearance of baby onesies as ingredients in diaper cakes as everything else from pacifiers to teething rings have been incorporated into the designs. There are even colorful onesie shaped baby shower invitations and tableware for the party that wants onesie decorations across the board.
You might be of the mind that cute baby onesies are only for use in the warm summer months or late spring, but the answer to that is long sleeve infant onesies. Cover baby’s legs with a pair of pants and let your custom onesies take care of keeping the baby’s chest, arms and shoulders warm as toast and cute as pie.
