BABY NURSERY PAINTING TECHNIQUES
NURSERY PAINTING IDEAS
PICTURES and PATTERNS

I wanted to share a few decorative nursery painting techniques that will carry your nursery decor to a whole new level. If you are looking for baby nursery decorating ideas you should know that nothing brightens a room more than a fresh coat of paint on the wall.

Just a simple single step process will do wonders if you don't have time to employ one of the popular unique painted patterns or designs achieved through nursery painting techniques. Color has a profound effect on our mood and the enjoyment of being in any room.

Keep in mind that you can take these easy to do ideas, combine them with your vision of your particular nursery theme and create a masterpiece. Better yet, you will be active in building some of your child's first memories. Take loads of pictures of your baby boy's first bedroom. Don't let your efforts on the nursery wall go without documentation.

There are so many cute baby nursery painting techniques and painting ideas out there for that it would be impossible for me to cover them all. Basics for painting techniques for painting a baby's bedroom are actually no different than if you were painting any other wall in your home. Whether you are looking for an older kids room decorating idea or a baby nursery decorating idea or two, you've come to the right place!

I've just adapted them for use with various nursery themes and baby bedding sets. Many of the designs can be used for baby boys nursery themes or baby girls nursery themes with the right surroundings and color schemes.

ARGYLE

For a baby boy's nursery theme with a Curious George baby bedding set, you could use an easy argyle design in the chocolate brown color of a monkeys fur and yellow with black accent lines. Simply take the basic instructions for painting diamonds on your walls and draw the dark brown or black accent "X"s the same as you see on any classic argyle fabric. A warm cream background such as Navajo White would work beautifully.

NOT QUITE STRIPES

For a sailboat theme, nothing is quite so versatile as a crisp clean striping technique. To paint stripes from top to bottom of the nursery wall would be a daunting task, so I think it's a good idea to minimize the striped area. Limit your taping for stripes to an area below a chair rail at standard height and paint the area over the chair rail in a solid color. One of the best blue paint colors for a baby boys nursery would be a shade from Benjamin Moore called Yarmouth Blue. If the color is not quite deep enough for your taste, have the tint increased until it matches your other accessories. Navajo White is a good shade for the contrasting stripe. One of the advance nursery painting techniques that will bring in more colors would be to, paint some uneven stripes on your nursery wall using three shades or more that you've pulled from your accessories.

COMBINING DIAMONDS AND STRIPES

This is one of the more lovely decorative baby nursery painting techniques that will go well in any nursery as the colors used can be classified as gender neutral or unisex.

I would paint the wall a soft sage green for a lovely neutral background. On the bottom third of the wall mask off your diamonds and paint them in baby blue. You may wish to do a whisper painting effect with a dry brush. This creates a very soft and understated look. Here's an important tip, build the paint very slowly.

For your nursery furniture, paint the body of your piece in an off white or antique white. On the front of your dresser or armoire or even a trunk, mask off and paint them in the same soft blue and sage green that you used for your diamond wall painting technique.

Finish up with some cheerful ceramic knobs and you will have an original piece that will make you so proud!

Have fun, if you feel that these techniques are too advanced, start with something really easy like stenciling or painting different sized polka dots on one of the nursery walls and stripes on the other three!
